Recruitment for new store in Grantham is to be stepped up
The campaign to recruit staff to work in a home and garden store in Grantham has been given a boost.
The Range is currently searching for 80 full and part-time staff for its store at the Gonerby Road retail park, which opens on February 5.
It’s great to see another major retailer deciding that Grantham is the place to be.
Now South Kesteven District Council’s economic development staff have teamed up with Grantham Jobcentre to help fill the vacancies.
The council’s executive manager for development and growth, Paul Thomas, said the authority had been tracking the progress of the new store since The Range submitted a planning application to change elements of the former DFS furniture store.
He said: “It’s great to see another major retailer deciding that Grantham is the place to be.
“A further 80 jobs in the town are to be welcomed, and we are committed to help The Range and other businesses to find people of the right calibre to help fulfil local growth ambitions.”
A recruitment centre has been organised by the council in a town centre location for interviews on December 16 and December 17 but details of the location have not been announced yet.
Jobs at the new store are across the board and include store manager, deputy manager, office and warehouse managers, full and part time sales assistants, supervisors and department managers, warehouse and office staff, plus cleaning and security jobs.
It is expected that 40 per cent of jobs will be full time and 60 per cent part time and new employees are currently expected to take up their jobs in mid January.
Potential candidates are encouraged to submit applications early as the job roles may become over subscribed.
Details of all jobs are already on the Jobcentre web site - www.gov.uk/jobsearch. Entry of the code ‘22558089’ in the Skills search field will take applicants directly to the adverts and these include full online application instructions.
Interviews will be organised before the two day recruitment event.
The DIY, homewares, furniture, lighting, arts and crafts and garden store wants staff who can be flexible about shift working.
Experience is not essential for many roles but the company is looking for people who can demonstrate enthusiasm, excellent communication, with an attention to detail and the ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment.
