A successful reunion of former Walton Girls’ High School pupils was held raising money towards the breast cancer care Emerald Suite at Grantham Hospital.

The event at Grantham Squash Club saw 23 women who were students at Walton during the 70s reunite and also raise £75 towards the Emerald Suite.

It was organised by Jackie Whatley, 58, who has been through breast cancer treatment herself twice and holds numerous fund-raisers.

Jackie who lives on Wensleydale Close in Grantham, said: “It was lovely to meet up with the others again. It had been 12 years since we did the last one.”

While many of the former pupils still live in the area, others travelled especially from further afield, including a lady from Poole, in Dorest.

A buffet was provided by Watkins Butchers, and the attendees all enjoyed reminiscing while watching an old video made during their time at Walton which had been put on to a DVD.
