Female farming trio from farm near Grantham tell us about their innovative approach
It's still early when I arrive at Manor Farm in Bassingthorpe, but the working day is well under way for farming duo Ann Harrison and her niece, Rachel Smith.
After starting work at 4.30am, the pair have already milked their herd of 200 cows and even welcomed a newborn calf into the world overnight – and it’s not even 9am.
Ann, 59, runs Manor Farm in Ponton Road, Boothby Pagnell, alongside her 28-year-old niece Rachel. Ann’s sister Julie, 56, joined her sister and daughter at the farm 15 months ago to run the pasteurisation process.
