FOR more than 20 years, Grantham man Roy Wright has been the driving force behind the town’s biggest annual event.
As chairman of Grantham Carnival, he has worked with committee members to put on the two-day event for families at Wyndham Park. Arena acts, fair rides and stalls attract thousands to the park every year.
Roy had a fight on his hands this year to keep the traditional, and very popular, parade through the town centre. He, and his committee, battled with Lincolnshire County Council highways to agree a route. They succeeded and this year’s parade went ahead.
At the time, Roy told the Journal: “For the last 26 years the carnival has been my life, and I know it means a lot to Grantham people.”
