Rugby World Cup star Ben Kay inspires academy students in Corby Glen
Rugby World Cup champion Ben Kay inspired students at Charles Read Academy during a visit to the school.
The former England star spent the morning at the academy in Corby Glen, delivering a masterclass for aspiring players, signing autographs and answering questions about his career. Robert Sloan, Principal at the Academy, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our students to learn from one of the country’s top players. It was a pleasure to welcome a sporting champion to our academy and it has created such a positive reaction around school.”
Shane Ward, sports enrichment manager for the David Ross Education Trust, added: “Ben has not only given our students important tips to improve their sporting performance, but provided them with knowledge about the discipline, passion and dedication needed to reach their ambitions on and off the sporting field.”
Charlie, a Year 11 student, said: “This was the best day ever. Ben was so nice and he gave me lots of tips and advice to use in my next match.”
