Salon offers free pamper treats to Grantham Thomas Cook staff
A beauty clinic in Grantham is offering free pamper treats to staff at Thomas Cook who have lost their jobs.
Grantham Beauty Clinic, on Vine Street, Grantham, made the kind gesture after the holiday tour operator, which has a branch in Grantham, ceased trading yesterday (Monday) after 178 years.
Holidaymakers have been affected - including a Grantham family.
Empty planes from around the world have been drafted in to bring more than 150,000 British tourists back home.
In a post on social media, Grantham Beauty Clinic appealed for staff from the Grantham branch to get in touch.
They said: "Here at GBC we want to show our support to the local people who have lost their jobs at Thomas Cook.
"Please tag anyone you know who worked at the Grantham branch.
"Whilst we can’t help financially we would like to offer them a pamper treat with our compliments. Please ask them to give us a call."
Debbie Wingad, reception manager at Grantham Beauty Clinic, said: "We just feel desperately sorry for the staff for losing their jobs this way. We like to do what we can to support local people and so we wanted to do something to give them a little pick me up."
Some of the Thomas Cook staff have already been in touch to thank the clinic and book their treatment.
Zena Hall replied on Facebook: "Thank you Grantham Beauty Clinic. This is just the pick up us girls needs xxx."
Thomas Cook collapsed yesterday after failing to secure an extra £200 million in funding to prevent it from folding.
