Crews tackle fire at Leadenham depot

Six fire crews tackled a blaze yesterday at a former recycling depot as plumes of black smoke were seen over Leadenham.

A photograph of the smoke was sent in by Laura and Pete Leeds as the fire took hold

They said: "Just seen plumes of black smoke as we were driving down the A17, went to investigate. The old waste disposal at Leadenham, off Quarry Lane, is on fire. At least three fire crews are in attendance."

Crews put out the fire using three main jets and a ground monitor.

Crews from Grantham, Sleaford, Newark, Holbeach, Billingborough and Lincoln were called to the scene at 4.10pm yesterday.
