Slideshow: Grantham Canal Society Discovery Day

The Grantham Canal Society held its annual Discovery Day event at the Carpenter’s Shop Canal Depot in Woolsthorpe by Belvoir.

Visitors could take part in the Dirty Duck race, sponsored by The Geese and Fountain pub in Croxton Kerrial, as well as other family activities. Short boat trips in the Three Shires narrowboat were put on, as were live entertainment, wildlife and craft stands, a barbecue and a tombola.

Visitors could also find out more about the restoration of the four Woolsthorpe locks. The project, called the Grantham Canal Heritage Initiative, is principally funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and it is necessary for the Grantham Canal Society and the Canal and River Trust each to make a substantial contribution.
