South Kesteven launches grass cutting company

Today (Friday 1 March) sees the launch of a new company providing an essential council service that will generate income to help pay for some of South Kesteven District Council’s key priorities.

EnvironmentSK, a company wholly-owned by the district council, has taken on all grounds

maintenance services previously provided by a private contractor.

SKDC’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Coun Dr Peter Moseley, said: “Reductions in central government grants means making the most of the council’s assets and knowledge to generate

income is now hugely important.

“Council taxpayers will benefit by seeing a more flexible service providing better value for money,

which will also secure an income to help us continue to provide other essential services for our


Coun Dr Moseley said EnvironmentSK was able to adapt to fast-changing circumstances and priorities, and that the company’s experienced workforce offered a comprehensive service tailored to clients’ specific needs, including:

 Grass cutting

 Shrub, hedge and border maintenance

 Planting schemes

 General garden maintenance

 Arboricultural works

 Sports pitch line marking

 Weed control

 Play area safety inspections

 Specialist works

Coun Dr Moseley added: “This is an exciting initiative for us and is another example of SKDC leading the way when it comes to the challenge of adapting to changing times and coming up with new ways of doing things.

EnvironmentSK will ensure they are kept in the best possible condition.
