A village post office has remained closed since a fire broke out in the building almost two weeks ago.

Stoke Rochford Post Office has been closed since the fire struck on Saturday, March 4.

Part of the living area at Stoke Rochford Post Office was gutted by fire and the business is now closed.

The fire started in a building to the side of the post office, in part of the living accommodation. Grantham and Stamford firefighters tackled the blaze on the Saturday morning. Nobody was hurt in the incident.

The post office is now cordoned off with tape and a notice on the door says the office is closed until further notice.

The fire service said the blaze was caused by heat igniting dry timbers in the roof space.

A Post Office spokesman said: “We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Stoke Rochford Post Office. This is due to a fire in the residential area at the property. Thankfully, no one was injured.

“We know how important post office services are to people in this area and we are working to restore services as soon as possible. Any customers wishing to access post office services may do so from any convenient branch, including Colsterworth Post Office.”
