Stolen Grantham streetlights will cost £20,000 to replace

By Grantham Reporter

Thieves have stolen five streetlights from the new relief road near the A1 in Grantham.

The lampposts are believed to have been cut down and taken away.

Coun Richard Davies, Executive Member for Highways, said: "Unfortunately, five streetlights on the first stretch of the new relief road disappeared a couple of months ago.

"We anticipate that it will cost in the region of around £20,000 to replace them. However, this won't happen until the second phase of the project is completed, when there will be less opportunity for such incidents.

"In the meantime, we will be installing new fencing at the site to increase security and reduce the chances of further damage."
