A company has donated fitness equipment to a parish council to be used in a local play area.

AMG Sport-Play Ltd donated three items of equipment to be used on the play area at The Belfry in Grantham. Londonthorpe and Harrowby Without Parish Council has also received to swings at a discount from the company for the plays areas at The Belfry and in Londonthorpe.

The fitness equipment includes a double air walker, a sit up bench and a cross trainer.

AMG managing director Charlie Green said: “Having grown up in the area, I remember playing as a child on the green space before the housing estate was even built. It’s great for me and AMG Sport-Play to be able to give something back to the community we work in.

“Having recently had the opportunity to work with SKDC on the resurfacing of Wyndham park’s new paddling pool, we were delighted to be able to provide these items to the parish council and offer a different facility to the community.”

Mr Green added: “We have seen an increasing trend in the popularity of outdoor fitness products in the UK and it’s a growing area of our business along with our core of playground equipment and safety surfacing.”

Parish council clerk Pete Armstrong described the donation of the equipment as “absolutely brilliant. He said: “We are very grateful to Charlie. He runs a local company and he used to come down here as a lad when it was fields with sheep grazing in them and it’s a great story.”

Parish council vice-chairman Paul Bakker said: “This is most welcome and very much appreciated.”
