Surprise award for Grantham Covid vaccination centre by High Sheriff of Lincolnshire

There was a nice surprise for the team at Grantham's Covid-19 vaccination centre when the High Sheriff of Lincolnshire arrived for his jab in uniform and with a certificate in hand.

Michael Scott had been planning to present the award to a county centre to "recognise the extraordinary effort in terms of organisation and volunteering effort to make the roll out of vaccinations the success it has been".

So when his second jab was brought forward three days to Thursday and in Grantham, it presented the chance to do so and he handed the award to centre manager Jennie Tomlinson.

Mr Scott said: "This award recognises the extraordinary effort of all the staff and volunteers at the Grantham Meres Centre in vaccinating an amazing number of people in a short period of time; all with a smile on their faces and the most efficient of organisation."

High Sheriffs are made by Royal appointment for one year and lend support to crime prevention agencies, emergency services and the voluntary sector.
