Teachers’ strike taught pupils a valuable lesson

Have your say

No doubt the majority of pupils at KGGS hope one day to be employees and, by their actions, their teachers have effectively taught the girls who attend the school that when their terms and conditions - and indeed livelihoods - are threatened, there is an alternative to mute acceptance.

It is also an opportunity for them to learn that, in taking part in an officially recognised dispute (hardly ‘absenteeism’), they are entitled to legal protection from the kind of response that Stephen Pearson is suggesting in his letter.

Would he rather his daughter just learned to be a doormat and did nothing to fight for her rights?
