Police news.

A teenager was assaulted by two men passing by in a car in the early hours of last Sunday morning.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses after the assault in Stonebridge Road, Grantham, on September 20, just after midnight.

The 16-year-old victim was with another teenager when they crossed the road a few metres in front of a vehicle which was travelling quickly along Stonebridge Road. The vehicle, which had three men in it, then pulled up and two of the occupants got out and assaulted the victim. The men got back into the vehicle, which is believed to have been a silver BMW, and drove off prior to police arriving.

The victim was not seriously injured in the assault but suffered swelling and bruising as a result.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesman said: “The road where the assault took place is usually busy, even during the early hours, and is overlooked by flats. Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who may have seen or heard anything to do with the assault, or anyone who may have any information that may be relevant to the enquirry.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call the non-emergency number 101 quoting incident 3 of September 20. Alternatively, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
