Teenager stole to ‘feel better about herself’

A TEENAGER stole cosmetics from Boots because “she wanted to feel better about herself”.

Danielle Keaveney of Kipling Close, Grantham, admitted stealing a concealer pen from the High Street store.

Rory Macmillan, defending, said: “She was feeling down and wanted to look good. She thought it would make her feel better about herself.”

Mr Macmillan said that coming to court has been a shock for Keaveney. Keaveney, 19, has been caught shoplifting three times.

Mr Macmillan added: “Every time she has taken something she has been caught.”

Keaveney was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay costs of £40.

Chair of Magistrates Graham Harman said: “I hope this is a shock for you to appear in court.”
