Teenagers charged with assault on 13-year-old schoolboy in Grantham
A vicious assault on a 13-year-old schoolboy has caused outrage online after footage of the attack was widely shared on social media.
The shocking footage shows a group of youths surrounding the schoolboy before they proceed to punch and hit him, while others recorded the assault on their phones.
As the boy cowers on the floor, he is kicked in the stomach and receives several blows to the head.
The alleged assault took place last Sunday in Goodliff Road, Grantham.
Since the terrifying ordeal was filmed and shared around several social media sites, it has racked up hundreds of views.
Shocked views have condemned the attack with one saying: “It’s absolutely disgusting. People should be made aware.”
Another added: “Thinking of his family. No parents should have to endure that news, never mind see it documented.
Others have criticised those that chose to record the attack instead of helping the victim.
One said: “The young girl videoing it is just as bad. Instead of trying to stop the boys, she encouraged them by videoing it as though it was some great feat.”
Another agreed and added: “It is absolutely disgusting and the girl standing there is just as bad.”
Lincolnshire Police have confirmed officers are investigating.
A police spokesperson said: “On Sunday, 2 February, a 13-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted on Goodliff Road, Grantham.
“Two boys, both aged 13, have been charged with assault and a public order offence.
“They are due to appear at Lincoln Youth Court on March 2.”
