Winning at the Grantham Journal Business Awards is nothing new for The Trickling Tap.

The liquid deli’s sale of a variety of wines, spirits, coffees, teas and oils to customers ‘on tap’ earned them the Business Innovation Award in 2014. Now the Market Place shop has added Independent Retailer of the Year to its accolades. Paul Adams, co-director with wife Karen and son Luke, spoke to the Journal after their latest win.

**How did it feel to be named Independent Retailer of the Year? It was a great feeling and a big reward for all the hard work that has been taken on by all members of the team over the last 18 months. It is nice to be acknowledged but at such an early stage it is fantastic to be recognised as such a success.

**What do you think of the independent retail community in Grantham?

The independent retail community is strong, supportive and striving to make Grantham a better place to live, work and shop, and with more support from the community, council and landlords, Grantham can become as good as its neighbouring towns.

**You were also runners-up for the Customer Care award – in what ways do you care for customers?

By listening to their suggestions, by dealing with any complaints quickly and positively and by taking time to source feedback.

**How has the business expanded over the past year?

The retail offering has grown with new product ranges and much wider product choice across all our ranges. We constantly strive to find new products that meet our quality and exclusivity standards.

**What are your plans for the future? To widen out the scope of the business to offer our loyal customers something different that is currently unavailable in Grantham and surrounding towns – watch this space!
