Have your say

In the first of a series of interviews with the winners of the Grantham Journal Business Awards, the Journal has spoken to Business of the Year Treasure Transport.

The distribution company is based at a six-acre site just off the A1 at Gonerby Moor, and specialises in the transportation of bulk liquids as well as providing other haulage services.

Being named Grantham Journal’s Business of the Year 2014 was particularly special as it coincided with Treasure Transport’s 60th year, and managing director Peter Greenhalgh spoke to the Journal about winning the award, the company and Grantham’s business community.

What did it mean to win Business of the Year?

We were truly delighted to win the Business of the Year award - it was great for all the team to be recognised for their efforts at this prestigious event. We are proud to be based in Grantham and the event demonstrates what a great geographical location Grantham is for the development of business.

For those who are not familiar with Treasure Transport, can you explain a little bit about the work your company is involved in?

Treasure is a long established distribution company based at Gonerby Moor. We operate five divisions, the first being bulk liquid distribution specialising in the movement of bulk liquids for the food and drink industry from small independent craft brewers through to major names such as Greene King, Stella Artois and Budweiser. Last year alone Treasure delivered 245 million pints, also taking tankers to various festivals including T in the Park, V Festival and the world famous Glastonbury Festival.

What are the other services you provide?

In addition to bulk liquid distribution, we provide general distribution focusing on the movement of palletised goods and indivisible loads. Also through palletline we are able to transport smaller consignments to anywhere in the UK and Europe, quickly and cost-effectively. The company’s other divisions are warehousing and cleaning of tanks or intermediate bulk containers used for food processing throughout the UK and Europe.

You are celebrating Treasure Transport’s 60th year in business – what do you think is the secret to its continued success?

Treasure’s success devolves out of having a hard-working, committed team who know that high levels of customer service are of paramount importance. We also have a dynamic, and pro-active approach to business and business development, and the desire to seek areas of improvement and to investigate new opportunities.

What do you think of the business community in and around Grantham?

The awards evening was a tremendous opportunity to learn more about the business community and it was great to see and learn more about the various commercial offerings from both large and small businesses. Grantham’s business community has a fantastic amount to offer.
