TODAY the Grantham Journal launches its Save A Life campaign – and we need you to do something amazing.
Inspired by Natasha Howlett’s touching story of bravery, courage and sacrifice, the Journal is asking its readers to become organ, and blood donors.
Without the organ donor system, Natasha would not be here, smiling with us today. Her mum, Suzanne said: “Every year Natasha grows older, I think of the person that died. I think about how an organ from that person’s body - which sadly would never live again - saved my daughter’s life. It saved two other people, too, and that’s an amazing thing to do.”
Over the course of this campaign, we want as many people as possible in our great town to put up their hand and say: ‘Should the worst happen to me, I want to give someone like Natasha a second chance at life.”
Registration forms are available at the Grantham Journal office, and the Donor Register is working with us to monitor just how many people back this life-saving initiative.
Journal Editor James Mitchinson said: “Reading Natasha’s miracle tale inspired me to launch this campaign, and I will be the first to sign up.
“The idea behind the stories you’ll read in the coming weeks is to make people think. It has to be about personal choice, and I hope the people of Grantham will chose to support us, to show once and for all that Grantham is Great.”
