Theft from oil tank in Osbournby

Police news.
Police news.

Lincolnshire Police have received a report of heating oil being stolen from Osbournby High Street at the weekend.

The theft took place overnight between Saturday and Sunday. The oil tank was locked, but it was removed from a breather outlet on the tank.

If you are a witness to this incident or have any information regarding this crime, call 101 quoting incident number 324 of 13/12/15.

PCSO Nicole Page added: “A good crime prevention device is an electronic tank gauge, which you can read from inside your home.

“These devices send a signal to the gauge which plugs into a socket in the house. It will not only indicate that the tank needs refilling, but will also set off an alarm should there be a sudden drop in oil level caused by a leak or theft.

“Some alarms will detect the presence of a person standing by the tank and alert you via an SMS message. They’ll also audibly warn the person to leave the area.”
