Tools and boy’s bike and scooter stolen in Bottesford shed raid

Crime news.

A villager in Bottesford is warning others to tighten up security of their property after around £5,000 worth of tools and other items were stolen from her shed.

The shed in Grantham Road was broken into on Saturday night and tools stolen, mostly power tools. Also taken was a nine-year-old boy’s bike, his scooter and helmets.

The woman, who asked not to be named, said she believes the village is being targeted by burglars, adding: “I know there was another break-in in Grantham Road a few weeks back.

“Its not an opportunistic thief because whoever it was used bolt cutters and they must have had a van. We had a lot of security in our shed but they still managed to get in it.

“What’s more upsetting than anything is they took my son’s stuff.”

The family didn’t hear any noises overnight – it was a neighbour who came across the damaged shed door and mess left behind on Sunday morning and alerted them to the burglary.

The victim wants to raise awareness in a bid to avoid someone else being targeted. She said: “I don’t want anyone else to go through what we’ve gone through.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Leicestershire Police on the non-emergency 101 number.
