Society to give tours of Grantham on National Civic Day

Town centre tours will be run in Grantham as part of National Civic Day next week.

Saturday, June 23, is National Civic Day when Civic Societies all over the country mark the day with special activities to publicise their towns and special places.

Grantham Civic Society will be running town centre tours with its experts led by secretary Dr John Manterfield. There is no charge and John will tell you all about the history of town people and buildings in a walk lasting about an hour from the Isaac Newton statue to St Wulfram’s church. Meet John at 11am on St Peter’s Hill at the statue.

The Civic Society will have a stand in the Morrison centre and committee members will be on hand to explain the activities of both the society and Rivercare with an exhibition of both. They will also have a selection of books about Grantham nominally priced outlining the town's history. Grantham MP Nick Boles is due to attend.

The event in the Morrison centre will take place between 9.30am and 1.30pm.
