‘Toxic smoke coming from illegal waste site’ near Grantham

Toxic smoke is being produced by fires burning at an illegal waste site, says a district councillor.

Paul Wood, who represents the Viking ward, which includes his home village of Long Bennington, says waste is still being burned on the site next to Fen Lane in the village, despite various agencies,
including the police and Environment Agency (EA), taking steps to try and stop it.

Coun Wood told a meeting of South Kesteven District Council last week: “The residents of Fen Lane constantly have to put up with toxic smoke from fires burning on an illegal waste tip and, despite various agencies being involved, the problems continue.”
