A road accident on Sunday left traffic lights out of action and caused delays in town.

The accident damaged traffic lights at the junction between Sankt Augustin Way and Dysart Road.

Coun Richard Davies, executive member for highways and transportation at Lincolnshire County Council, said: “Emergency repairs were needed after traffic signals on Sankt Augustin Way were damaged in a road traffic accident on Sunday.

“Traffic signals teams were on site on Monday to resolve the problem as there were live electrics, and it was necessary to switch off all the lights at this junction, as well as the pedestrian crossing facility along Dysart Road to do the works.

“Unfortunately, while the repairs were being carried out there was another incident on Harrowby Road, and the police temporarily diverted traffic into the area. It was not possible to delay the works until after the Lent Fair, as for safety reasons they needed doing as a matter of urgency. All repairs are now complete and the road is open normally.”
