Police have reopened the southbound carriageway after this morning’s crash involving three vehicles.

They confirmed a man and a young child were trapped in a car in the accident which blocked the A1 at Great Ponton. They were freed by fire crews and taken to Peterborough Hospital. It is not believed their injuries are life threatening.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway at Great Ponton at 7.15am and involved two cars and a van.

Today’s incident follows a crash on Saturday morning on the same stretch of road involving six vehicles. One person was injured.
