Man and child taken to hospital after serious crash on A1 at Great Ponton

Police have confirmed a man and a young child were trapped in a car in this morning’s accident on the A1 at Great Ponton.

They were freed by fire crews and taken to Peterborough Hospital. It is not believed their injuries are life threatening.

The accident happened on the southbound carriageway at Great Ponton at 7.15am and involved two cars and a van.

The southbound carriageway of the A1 at Great Ponton remains closed for the recovery of the vehicles, and there are also some disruptions on the northbound carriageway. Diversions are in place, but drivers are advised to avoid the area for the next few hours, as it is anticipated that there will be congestion and delays.
