Commuters will benefit from a new early morning train between Grantham and London.
Train operator East Coast is introducing the new direct early morning service from Grantham to London King’s Cross.
The new service, which starts on Monday (May 20), departs from Grantham at 05.44 Monday to Friday, calling at Peterborough at 06.10 and arriving at London King’s Cross at 07.00.
It will reach London 31 minutes earlier than Grantham’s current first train of the day, which departs from the south Lincolnshire town at 06.17.
East Coast is adding the new early service in direct response to feedback from passengers travelling from Grantham on weekday mornings, many of whom suggested an earlier first departure to London.
East Coast Commercial and Customer Service Director Peter Williams said: “We’re delighted to introduce this additional early morning service from Grantham, in response to the many suggestions we’ve received from our customers.
“Last July, we held the latest in our series of online customer forums, giving customers the chance to put their suggestions directly to East Coast’s senior leadership team via the internet.
“Several customers who took part in our online customer forums suggested we look at introducing this early service. We hope it will prove a popular addition to East Coast’s timetable serving Grantham.”
The new service will also offer an additional early morning link from Grantham to Peterborough, where a range of connecting services are available, to destinations including Cambridge, Norwich, Ipswich and Stansted Airport.
Standard advance returns between Grantham and London King’s Cross booked online at www.eastcoast.co.uk start from £22.50.
