Firefighters had to use tools to smash a car window in order to release an 18-month-old who was locked inside this morning.

They were called to Princess Drive in Grantham at 11.40am, and broke open the driver’s side window to release the toddler.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue said that the youngster had been accidentally locked in the car and that no other emergency services had to be called to the scene.
