A tree has been planted in a Grantham park in memory of a woman who ran a popular cafe there.

The Tibetan cherry tree was planted in memory of Jenny Sutherland who ran the Old Pavilion Tea Rooms in Wyndham Park and sadly died last December.

Jenny’s daughter Cindy and her family chose the tree and planted it near a bench marked with a plaque also in Jenny’s memory. Representatives of the Wyndham Park Forum, South Kesteven District Council and Glendale Managed Services gathered to help Cindy plant the tree.

Jenny was a member of the Wyndham Park Forum while she ran the tea rooms. Donations from the Wyndham Park Bowls Club, Wyndham Park Forum and Cindy’s family, as well as donations in kind from SKDC and Glendale, helped to pay for the tree. The balance of the monetary donations will be given to St Barnabas Hospice at Grantham Hospital where Jenny was cared for last year.

Cindy said: “Thanks to everyone involved. On behalf of myself and my family we are so grateful for your support and donations. Mum would have been so honoured to be remembered like this.”
