Two Grantham men seriously injured in crash on A1 at Great Ponton


Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash on the A1 yesterday in which two Grantham men, aged 22 and 19, sustained serious injuries.

It took place at around 6.05pm yesterday when a red Renault Clio left the road on the northbound carriageway near to the slip road with the B1174 at Great Ponton.

The driver, a 19-year-old Grantham man, sustained a back injury and was taken to Queens Medical Centre where he was detained overnight for observation. The passenger, a 22-year-old Grantham man, was also taken to QMC after suffering internal, back and head injuies. His condition is not thought to be life threatening.

The slip road was affected fo a time but the scene was cleared and fully re-opened at around 9.00pm.
