Unemployment rate drops in Grantham area

There are 90 fewer people looking for work and claiming benefits in the Grantham area compared to the same time last year.

Latest figures issued by Grantham Job Centre reveal that 975 people are unemployed or on benefits in the South Kesteven District Council region in July. That compares with 1,065 in July 2015.

Jonathan Beech, employee relations lead for Grantham Job Centre, said: “It is an encouraging picture in the Grantham area.

“Grantham is one of the strongest areas in Lincolnshire in terms of people finding work.

“We have seen good employment activity with employers such as Moy Park, Vale Garden Houses and Oldrids.”
