STEALING aftershave worth more than £50 led to a sentence of 60 hours of unpaid work in the community.

Romanian national Adrian Kvec of Tufnell Grove, Birmingham, walked into Boots in Grantham High Street along with an accomplice and tested some aftershave worth £52. The two men then placed a bottle in each of their pockets before walking out of the store.

CCTV operators followed Kvec, 23, and he was arrested shortly afterwards. Defending himself, Kvec said: “I apologise. I don’t know what to say, I just committed this theft.”

Kvec admitted theft and was given a 12-month community order. He must carry out 60 hours’ unpaid work and pay £85 in costs.
