Up to 50 jobs stay in Grantham after approval given to storage plan
Up to 50 jobs are to be retained in Grantham after councillors backed a storage and manufacturing centre on the edge of town.
Councillors approved the 3,383 square metre two-storey building on a 1.52ha site at 2 Venture Way off Trent Road, when South Kesteven District Council's planning committee met yesterday.
Global Recycling Ltd plan to relocate from Alma Park to the approved location, which backs on to the A1.
A council report said the new premises would allow them to operate in a single building in a more streamlined way.
It says: “The proposals are not for waste recycling but for the manufacture and storage of recycling equipment and a small showroom for customers. It will result in the retention of 40 to 50 full-time jobs.”
The scheme also includes office space and parking for 35 cars, 12 HGVs and 12 bikes. It would also be situated in an area already used for industry.
The site offered no risk of contamination and restricting operating hours from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, means any noise would be within acceptable limits.
Members all agreed with council planners to approve the project.
Coun Ian Selby said: “The retention of 50 jobs will be welcome.”
