Update: Arson suspected in blaze that engulfed 120 cars in Grantham

Police are now investigating the large blaze which struck a salvage dealers overnight on Gorse Lane in Grantham.

At around 11.30pm two crews from Grantham, one from Corby Glen and another from Newark, were all called to the fire at Traynors on Gorse Lane.

Approximately 120 vehicles which were destroyed in the fire have now been extinguished. There were no reported injuries.

Two main jets and one hose reel remain in use damping down.

There are no reports of any road closures in the area this morning.

A Lincolnshire Police spokesperson said: “The investigation continues to establish the cause which may have been deliberate ignition.

“Anyone with information is asked to call 101 with incident reference number 398 of February 7.”
