Update: Fatal crash on A52 at Threekingham between van and car

An 89-year-old man has died after a crash on A52 at Threekingham yesterday.

The fatal collision occurred on the A52 near to the Saltersway junction. It was reported to police at 1.07pm and involved a white Mercedes van and a silver Nissan Micra.

Fire crews from Billingborough, Donington and Sleaford attended the crash at 1.23pm, and both the car and van were made safe.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment and manpower to release the driver of the Nissan, a man from Sleaford, who was seriously injured in the collision.

He was flown to QMC by air ambulance for treatment, but was sadly later pronounced dead. The male driver of the Mercedes van was not seriously injured.

The road was closed at the scene just after the incident and was not reopened until 5.20pm.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who may have seen either vehicle before the collision or who witnessed it take place and has not already spoken to police at the scene.
