Police news.

Police have now confirmed that they received reports of assaults against two men in Stoke Rochford on Saturday night.

The incident was reported just before 9.40pm on July 25 when a local man, aged in his 20s, was getting into a taxi in the area of Stoke Rochford Hall when he was assaulted by an unknown offender.

He suffered a cut to his left ear and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Another local man, also aged in his 20s, was assaulted in the same incident when he tried to intervene. It is believed the same offender assaulted him and knocked him unconscious. He was not seriously injured and was taken to hospital.

It has been reported that the incident took place following a boxing event which had to be called off midway through. According to boxingtonight.co.uk one of the boxers, Nathan Decastro, wrote on social media: “I’m absolutely gutted. Massive fight kicked off in crowd as I was about to enter the ring and the show got called off I feel so down and fed up! So sorry to all my travelling supporters all the ticket money will be returned! Bunch of pi**ed up wannabes ruined it!” However Decastro’s comments have since been removed.

Investigating officers are appealing for information following the incident and would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the assaults or who may have any information in relation to them.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101 quoting incident 444 of 25/07/2015.

Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
