Vale of Belvoir General Election candidate dies
A farmer who was standing as an independent candidate for election in Melton and Rutland has died.
Anthony Watchorn, who was 69, and had been campaigning ahead of the General Election on December 12, died this morning (Wednesday).
Mr Watchorn was due to appear at a hustings event on Monday evening with the other five candidates.
His sister Rosalind said: “Anthony was taken to hospital yesterday afternoon and his condition got worse.
“He sadly passed away this morning at Peterborough Hospital.”
Mr Watchorn leaves a partner and three children.
