Video 3 of 5: Heatwave a boost for Grantham Carnival
There were many highlights to this year’s Grantham Carnival, said the organising committee chairman.
The traditional parade, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight Spitfire flypasts on both Saturday and Sunday, Sunday’s Red Arrows flypast, the “sensational” Party in the Park, Lincolnshire Fire Aid display and classic cars were just a few of the best bits from this year’s carnival in Wyndham Park, said chairman Roy Wright.
He added: “From the start of the carnival parade to the finale of the Red Arrows flypast, the community of Grantham came out supporting the weekend-long event and I say a very big thank you to everyone who participated in any way.
“It would be difficult to choose the highlights, of which there were many, but suffice it to say it really was a good ‘un!
“My star turn of the weekend was the hardworking committee who spent many hours putting it all together and taking it all down.”
Lots of floats and walking floats took part in the annual parade through the town centre, which also include a flash mob of dancers connected to the Beth Cresswell School of Dance.
Winners and runners -up were:
1 Beth Cresswell School of Dance
2 Lincolnshire Cheerleading Academy
3 J & Y Webber TA Bluebird Care
1 Heritage Care
2 The Harrowby/National Academies Trust
3 Isaac Newton School
Party in the Park in the entertainment marquee on Saturday night, headlined by Quuen tribute Queen II, was popular and saw the marquee filled to capacity.
