Shining stars taking part in this year’s Colsterworth Festival of Performing Arts have left quite an impression.
The young people involved in the 19th annual event, which drew to a close last Sunday, were praised by organisers, adjudicators and visitors, as they competed in dance, drama, music and film categories.
And the many youngsters involved in the event’s schools day, pictured, at The Meres on Friday were equally commended. Among the schools taking part were Grantham Prep School and Barkston and Syston, Colsterworth, South Witham, Barrowby and Isaac Newton primary schools.
Neville Kerby, a member of the organising committee, said: “Wow! What a festival!
“Thanks to everyone who came, we hope to see you all next year for our 20th anniversary.”
Although “shattered” the organising committee is looking forward to next year’s festival, which runs over two weeks at venues in Grantham and Colsterworth.
This year saw 3,000 entries, marked by six adjudicators, helped by 40 volunteers and two accompanists, who between them managed to down 2,000 cups of coffee!
Special guests over the course of the event were Grantham MP Nick Boles, Councillor Bob Adams and Mayor of Grantham Ian Selby.
Neville said: “Both Nick and Ian were delighted with the number of children involved and amazed at the quality of talent on show, and have offered their support for future festivals.”
