Coronation Street star Bruce Jones and legend of British boxing Herol “Bomber” Graham were the star guests at the Naomi Fund Ball on Saturday night.
Jones, who plays Les Battersby in the soap, attended the event at Belton Woods at the invitation of Dean Fardell, organiser of the ball.
Dean said: “It was a fantastic event.
“Bruce and Herol Graham were absolutely brilliant. Bruce raised thousands for us at the auction - we took about £3,500 at the auction.”
The star guests enjoyed their night so much they have discussed returning in the future. Dean said: “Bruce wants to come back again as a guest and help us with the auction - he was that impressed by it all as an event. Nothing was too much trouble for them.
“Herol was the same and wants to help out as well next year. They said it was fantastic and the people made them feel so welcome which were nice compliments.
“People loved them. They were having photographs taken and signing autographs. They really bounced off each other because they are two real characters.”
The event was organised to raise money for the Kingfisher Ward at Grantham Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Heartlink at Glenfield.
(The final figure for the amount raised on the day is not yet known.)
