A young girl who overcame cancer has won her category at the Journal’s Grantham is Great Awards.
Jessica Wade won the Child Achiever Award on Friday after beating kidney cancer and being a true inspiration to all those who know her. She was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms’ tumour and has undergone intensive surgery and chemotherapy.
After winning her award Jessica said she wanted to set up a charity to support children with cancer and the Queen’s Medical Centre where she was a patient. Jessica said: “I didn’t think I would win it. My legs started to go a bit when I won!”
Jessica thanked Professor Grundy and the staff who looked after her in hospital and said they would be very pleased she had won.
