PEOPLE living in Grantham could have their black bin waste collected every week instead of every fortnight.
South Kesteven District Council, like every other council in the country, has been invited to apply for Government funding in a £250 million pot to return the weekly bin service.
However, a spokesman for SKDC told the Journal this week that people in Grantham are not interested in a return to weekly collections.
SKDC’s head of environmental services, Dave Banks said: “There are no plans to make an expression of interest as local residents are satisfied with the current alternate weekly service.”
A spokesman for the Department for Communities and Local Government told the Journal that weekly waste collections were a “basic right” for everyone.
He added: “Councils who choose to reject this fund are kicking local residents in the teeth by leaving them with a second rate service.”
Should South Kesteven District Council try to bring back weekly black bin collections?
