The husband of a woman killed in a crash on Monday has described his wife as “the best mum in the world”.

Anne Brooks, 50, of Cropwell Butler near Bingham was driving her two children to school on Monday (Dec 17) when she crashed into a roadside ditch.

She was pronounced dead at the scene but her seven-year-old son and four-year-old daughter managed to get out unharmed.

Anne’s husband Jon Brooks said in a statement released through Nottinghamshire Police: “Anne was the best mum, wife and friend in the world.

“This incident has meant that the biggest part of me has been taken away.

“Anne was my number one fan, who believed in me and made me the person I am today. I will miss her more than words can express.”

Anne was driving a grey Volkswagen Golf along Swab’s Lane in Owthorpe, Nottinghamshire, at around 9am when the incident happened.

Police do not currently believe any other person or vehicle was involved.

Officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and to anyone who followed the vehicle prior to the collision.
