WAR heroes from Long Bennington who gave their lives for their country will be forever remembered thanks to renovation work on the village war memorial.
The work was arranged and funded by the parish council in Long Bennington after villagers became concerned of the effect of weathering on the memorial, meaning some names could barely be read.
Now, new granite panels have been inlaid which should be long-lasting and maintenance-free.
Stephen Pearson, Chairman of the Parish Council, said: “I am so pleased we were able to put the memorial into a good state for this year’s Remembrance Day. It means so much to a number of our residents”
The memorial was re-dedicated by the Rev. Michelle Massey before the act of remembrance.
