ST Wulfram’s Church is billing what it calls a ‘world premier’ of an exciting new carol at its Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols.
The service is due to take place on Sunday December, 18, and features the piece entitled The Magi’s Dream.
Director of Music at St Wulfram’s Dr Tim Williams said: “The carol is composed by James Whitbourn, on a text written by Robert Tear who lost his battle with cancer a few weeks after writing the poem.
“It is based on the Wise Men’s dream not to return home via Herod. Previous Whitbourn-Tear carols have received their première at King’s College, Cambridge in televised Christmas eve services.”
The carols will be performed by the combined choirs of St Wulfram’s, totalling over 65 choristers, including over 30 children.
Dr Williams added: “We hope that people in Grantham will be keen to come along and celebrate the Christmas season in a unique way.
The service takes place at 6.30pm on Sunday 18 December.
