A Grantham academy has hosted a group of young amabassadors who are working on reducing carbon footprints in their schools.

Priory Ruskin Academy was the venue for the training of Lincolnshire Carbon Ambassadors where Year 8 Priory students and local primary school pupils learned how to make their schools more energy efficient.

Pupils from Priory Ruskin, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Gonerby Hill Foot CofE Primary School and Harlaxton CofE Primary School have been working with Lincolnshire County Council to make their schools more sustainable.

The pupils have been trained as Lincolnshire Carbon Ambassadors so they can spot energy saving opportunities and work with their school communities to implement change. During the training day the pupils learned how to carry out an energy audit of their school and how reducing the carbon footprint can make a positive difference to the environment. Pupils have started work in their schools with the aim of making 10 per cent reductions in the use of electricity.
