A 20-year-old man has died after his car came off the road and overturned near Grantham last night (Thursday).

Emergency services were called to High Road, Londonthorpe, at around 11.35pm after a black Toyota Yaris left the road and overturned.

Fire crews from Grantham and Sleaford were called to the scene and used hydraulic cutting gear to release two casualties.

The driver, a 20-year-old man from the Grantham area, sadly died.

A 19-year-old local man, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham where he remains in a very serious condition.

The road was reopened at 4.45am this morning.

A police spokesman said: “We are asking any witnesses who saw the Yaris being driven prior to the collision, or who saw the collision itself, to call 101, quoting incident number 504 of June 8.”
