Congratulations to Alistair Hawken on reintroducing commercial production of Grantham gingerbread into the town of its creation.
A version is produced elsewhere, usually available on the sweet stalls at the Mid-Lent fair, and I must say it is an acceptable product.
However, it can only be the genuine article if it is produced in town. We hear or read many comments, both good and bad, about how the town is flourishing, but this biscuit is one product that we should be proud to associate with Grantham.
Personally, I make my own using a recipe passed down through my family. I hope there are others in town that do likewise?
