Grantham Journal letter: Nursing staff were so kind

Have your say

What an experience! I recently had cataract surgery at Grantham Hospital - wonderful.

The nursing staff, especially Helvig and Lianne, were so very caring and boosted my confidence enormously.

It was a long wait - arriving at noon, eye drops every 20 minutes to half and hour, then to theatre, full of coffee, biscuits and confidence at 3.15pm.

Gentle hands did the necessary, I saw a bright light change to a rainbow, then “well done, it’s all over”. No pain, no panic. I was reassured the whole time and back in the waiting room by 3.40pm, wearing a clear eye patch for protection for the next 48 hours (I really wanted a black one with skull and cross bones).

I can’t speak highly enough of all the staff and I can now see clearly and my grandaughters are more beautiful than I thought.

Thank you all very much.
